Round 9 match preview Noosa VS Mayne

4/9/2020

Comments

The Rococo's Bar and Bistro Noosa Tigers head down the Bruce Highway this Saturday to face off against another big cat, the Mayne Tigers. Its a top of the table clash with Mayne's only defeat coming at the hands of Noosa earlier in the season in what was a pretty sea daring affair. Poor kicking for goal that day was a major factor for Noosa who actually trailed at the main break before dominating the second half and coming away with a fairly comfortable victory.
Poor kicking for goal that day was a major factor for Noosa who actually trailed at the main break before dominating the second half and coming away with a fairly comfortable victory. Since that day the boys from the sunny coast have remained unbeaten although the city tigers do have a better percentage and a win on Saturday would see them finish top of the ladder after the fixture rounds.
Will the Mayne Tigers select champion forward Luke Faulkner ? Who has only played 2 games in 2020 but still gives the Noosa faithful nightmares after his 8 goal display in the 2014 decider. Speaking of forwards ex Redland player Ivers booted 7 goals last week so he will need to be watched whilst fellow champion Queensland player and 3 time premiership player Caleb Brown continues to be among the Brisbane clubs best players week in and week out. We know the quality of Jasper Craven and with names like Patterson, Collins, Mclean and co still running around it’s no wonder the boys from Everton park are knocking on the premiership door once again.
They do face a team that is in sublime form however with the Noosa Tigers purring over the past month. Onballers lead by Ruckman Connor McDonald, Meredith, Laskey, Hutchison and Fraser have just been electric. Throw in Stack and Fitzpatrick through that midfield area and you have an engine room that will be very hard to stop. In defence Maher, Stevens, McCrimmon team up well with youngsters Johnston and Brain to defend first then set up to attack once they have the footy in hand and up forward Harper, Langan, Collins, Rogers and the smarts of Pettigrove and O'Dwyer pose plenty of problems for opposing defenders.
Should be a cracker, will it be the grand final final preview?
Still plenty of footy to be played but certainly worth the trip down to Brisbane this weekend!

Go Noosa!
